It consists of three layers: an inner corundum ceramic layer, a transition layer, and an outer steel layer. The ceramic layer is made of dense corundum porcelain (Al2O3) formed at temperatures above 2,200°C, and the transition layer securely bonds it to the steel pipe. The inner corundum ceramic (A-Al2O3) lining has a Mohs hardness of 9.0, equivalent to HRC90, making it highly wear-resistant. In industries like metallurgy, electric power, mining, and coal, where abrasive materials are transported, the ceramic lined pipe’s wear life is 10 times or more than that of quenched steel.
2. Low Operational Resistance
The smooth, non-rusting inner surface of the corundum ceramic-lined pipe ensures low friction, unlike seamless steel pipes with spiral ridges. Tests show the inner surface roughness and water resistance characteristics are superior to any metal pipe, with a resistance coefficient of 0.0193, slightly lower than that of seamless pipes.
3. Corrosion Resistance and Anti-Scaling
The ceramic layer, composed of neutral A-Al2O3, offers excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and seawater corrosion. It also has anti-scaling properties, making it highly suitable for harsh environments.
4. High Temperature Resistance
The corundum ceramic (A-Al2O3) has a stable crystalline structure, allowing the pipe to operate continuously in temperatures ranging from -50°C to 700°C. Its thermal expansion coefficient is 6-8x10⁻⁶/°C, which is about half that of steel pipes.
5. Cost Efficiency
Ceramic-lined pipes are lightweight and affordable. Compared to cast pipes of the same inner diameter, they are 50% lighter, and they weigh 20-30% less than wear-resistant alloy pipes.
