Introduction to 5052 aluminum plate

Date:2025-04-03

The 5052 aluminum plate is an alloy primarily composed of magnesium and chromium, offering excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments. It features good workability, medium static strength, high fatigue strength, and superior weldability. Additionally, its low density and excellent thermal conductivity make it a preferred material for aircraft fuel tanks, storm shutters, refrigerator liners, and panels.

The 5052-H32 specification covers thicknesses ranging from 0.040" to 0.500", while for thicknesses between 3/4" and 1-1/2", the specification is 5052-H112.

Key Features of 5052 Aluminum Plate

High corrosion resistance, especially in marine and industrial environments.

Good weldability and formability, making it suitable for sheet metal work.

Moderate-to-high strength, higher than 1100 and 3003 aluminum alloys but lower than 6061.

Non-heat treatable, but can be strengthened by cold working.
